Cathay Pacific

360 experience using real-time flight data for Cathay Pacific at Outernet London.

The screens had a combined resolution of around 26K, so traditional Earth and city textures looked too soft at scale. A large part of the scene was therefore built with particle systems: stars and galaxies, cloud volumes, and especially city lights. All major cloud layers on screen were particle-based as well.

Because the project used 360 projection / dome mapping, standard 3D placement produced visible distortion. I applied inverse world distortion (distortion compensation) so the Earth initially read as a flat circle instead of a stretched egg shape, then gradually removed that compensation during the transition to create a stronger wow effect.
